Help Me Please!! I Have A Problem With Stress!?
Okay, well first of all, it is great that you at least had the courage to come forward and ask for help! Sooo hard, I know! Now, I know that the general population will tell you to take a deep breath, but you know as well as I do, THAT DOES NOT WORK!!! I feel sometimes that focusing on your breathing sometimes just exasperates the problem. The best advice I have, is to give yourself a little more time in your day. I know, impossible right? It is doable, just takes time to adjust. And on that note, family traits are way hard to overcome. I have the mother from hell! Screams for hours about everything! One thing you can do is give yourself a serene calm place to sort all your thoughts at nigh, before you go to bed. That way, all of the frustrations of your day can't follow you to bed. That should help you have a better day. Also, sounds a little harsh, but you might just have to think to yourself, before you let that meltdown take over, wow, do I really want to be like my mother? Remind yourself, hey, it's cool, not a tragedy, life goes on. It sucks because this all sounds so simple, and it actually is. But you didn't learn this behavior overnight, it will take time to retrain your brain! Also, I am a huge fan of distractions! Instead of letting the problem of the day overtake the day, give yourself a few minutes in the mirror to remind yourself, Dang I look good today!! In that same arena though, try not to push the problem aside. Take the time, just not right at that second. I hope this has been helpful, although I did ramble quite a bit!
