Failure to Appear, What can happen?

I manage a small business where an employee quit and said she was fired and then she filed for unemployment. She was denied, but she appealed the case. Now, I have to go to a hearing. If I don't show I ume she automatically gets the unemployment compensation; can I be penalized or fined for not showing?
